Common problems in application of ring transformer


When selecting the ring transformer, the output power of the ring transformer shall be determined according to the load working voltage and current application. The standard output current of the ring transformer is the output current at full load. In case of overload, the ring transformer can output more than 30% of the rated current. The overload capacity of ring transformer is very good, but pay attention to the following two points.

1. It is used to run overloaded industrial equipment.

The current of some facilities during operation is rated, but the current during operation is very large, sometimes exceeding 30%~50% of the rated current. For example, the overload capacity of DC servo motor is usually designed to be 3 times of the rated working current. When the load is running, the current is very large, which requires the ring transformer to overload in a short time. For such machinery and equipment that drive current overload, ring transformer shall be configured. The rated output current of the transformer shall exceed 20% of the rated current of the machine and equipment. Because the operation overload is frequent, the temperature of the ring transformer rises, and the service life of the long-term transformer decreases.

2. Applicable to non-overload machinery and equipment.

The design of many facilities will take into account the large operating current, and the operating current will not be overloaded. For example, as the driving force of machine equipment, the current in operation is the same as that in operation. When selecting the ring transformer, only the output current is equal to or more than 10% of the larger current of the stepping motor controller, and the remaining output current of the ring transformer in the design scheme is not needed. The stepper motor can never have overload current. In a large number of environments, the output power of the stepping motor is variable. This requires defining the main parameters of working voltage and current in the product structure design, and obtaining effective output power manually. In fact, the efficiency of the stepping motor decreases with the increase of the speed ratio. Stepping motor with ring transformer is the best choice.

In general, the ring transformer has small core loss, stable operation and strong overload capacity. In the application of the switching power supply of the stepper motor in the city square, the ring transformer has excellent characteristics, far surpassing the U-type and E-type transformers.
